day 24

Today I am thankful for dark sunnies and tissues. I was in a flap this morning as it was time to take Oscar for his first day of BIG school and I couldn't find my glasses to hide my tears. Then just as we were about to go I found them behind the lounge. What a relief! Anyway off we went to school, Oscar was the brave one, so was I till I got outside the gate!
(It wasn't just me with the sunnies either all the other mothers had theirs on as well and everyone had tissues handy!)

day 9

Today I am thankful for the escarpment. The thing that makes Thirroul so amazing is that we have an amazing escarpment-it gives us a feeling of protection and is isolating enough to give our little town a "village" feel to it. Walking up in the escarpment was a great way to spend an afternoon. It's not to far from my house and it had finally cooled down enough for me to think about heading outdoors. A few years ago fire had torn through here and there are still a few black trees to remind us of that, but now it was so lovely and green, full of new growth. Although the fire was devastating at the time the escarpment is much more beautiful because of it. Sometimes, this may seem like our lives, like everything has been ruined and devastated, however after the devastation there is a way for renewal that leaves everything richer, fuller and better. day 5

Today I am thankful for time. Time to stop and smell the roses. After the hectic time that Christmas brings, January is such a lovely slow and relaxed month. Our time in January is spent with the kids, heading to the beach, going for lovely walks and enjoying just spending 'time' with each other and great friends. I was gardening this morning and thought- how thankful I was for the roses...when I realised, no, I am actually thankful for the time to stop and smell the roses, to finally not be rushing anywhere, without a massive list of things to do.

day 1

So really it should be 365 reasons to be thankful, but I am running a little late.....as usual

Today I am thankful for bread....for years my oldest son has been unable to eat bread, now finally I have found a bread which appears to agree with him-just in time for school lunches starting in just a few weeks time!
